Aviation News – Emirates is preparing for one of its busiest periods for the Unaccompanied Minors Service, expecting to welcome more than 3,500 children travelling independently over the next two weeks as families begin their summer holidays.
The airline said that more than 250,000 children have used its Unaccompanied Minors and Young Passenger services over the past five years. The service offers dedicated assistance from check-in to arrival, ensuring young passengers travel safely and comfortably under the supervision of trained Emirates staff.
Children aged 5 to 12 travelling alone are required to use the service, while passengers aged 12 to 15 can travel independently or opt for the Young Passenger Service for an additional fee. Emirates also provides a dedicated Unaccompanied Minors Lounge at Dubai International Airport, featuring entertainment, refreshments, and supervised care before departure.
During the journey, Emirates specialists and cabin crew accompany and monitor children throughout the airport and onboard experience, offering meals, entertainment, and personalized assistance. Upon arrival, young travelers are escorted through the airport until they are handed over to their designated parent or guardian.
The airline also outlined special procedures for connecting flights through Dubai, including supervised transit services and access to the Unaccompanied Minors Lounge, reinforcing its commitment to providing a safe and family-friendly travel experience.
